About the Founder

Irons in the Fire Apparel was originally founded as a tee-shirt company, by Gregory Koehler, a third generation Firefighter/Paramedic working for the North Las Vegas, NV Fire Department (Engine 57-B platoon). IITFA is named for the fact that Greg constantly has so many "irons in the fire" in his life at any given time. It's hard for this guy to say no to a charity or opportunity to better his or someone else's life. Greg is originally from the metro Detroit area, born and raised a few miles from from the big city in Livonia, MI. Being a bit of a collector of fun and different T-shirts, Greg decided to design a few simple fire industry specific shirts, sold through TeeSpring. Those few shirts became popular and requests came in for different designs for different occupations. That's when the true design and imaginative juices began flowing and Irons in the Fire Apparel became more than just a fire industry company. Now, with over 150 designs and many more to come, IITFA has become the company to look to for fun, simple and original designs for every day shirts! Those designs can be found here: http://bit.ly/IITFA

Growing up participating in Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, Webelos and ultimately an Eagle Scout with two Palms, Greg understands the Patriotism needed to move this great country forward. Monthly hiking, camping and fishing expeditions with the Scouts set Greg up for success in the outdoor arena. Teaching swimming, kayaking and canoeing at age 14 at the D-A Boy Scout Camp in Metamora, MI as a lifeguard engrained the outdoors deep into his soul. Greg started his fire career as a POCFF for the NorthvilleTownship, MI Fire Department. After transitioning to a career Firefighter/Paramedic, Greg has had the opportunity to use his skills on humanitarian medical aide trips to Haiti and also volunteers for Team Rubicon USA. As a Fire Duty Chief at Burning Man, a Commander for the Honor Guard and a dedicated Chiver, Greg understands the love of USA and the brotherhood of the Fire Department. Greg has worked hard to instill these attributes in his daughter and high school track athletes. Greg still competes in the event of pole vaulting in the USPFC and WPFG each year.

IITFA wanted to offer firefighters, hunters, fishermen and campers equipment familiar to them without the hassle of the crowds at the brick and mortars. The decision to expand the IITFA brand to an eCommerce platform became the obvious choice. IITFA has partnered with Heroic Supply, a local printer and fireman owned business, to add computer design and printing services for your event or business. Contact Greg at the email below to discuss your custom apparel needs. If you desire an item for an event that isn't listed on the site, reach out to Greg and together we will make it happen!! Be a doer, not a don'ter.
